There are things you are supposed to get from travel. Culture, experience, the perspective that you are not alone and the clarity to understand the world is not a monoculture you’re doomed to be crushed by. There are other vistas, other ways of thinking, even places where the words they use for stuff is totally different.
Global pandemics are kind of the accidental eraser for that idea. No matter where you go, you have the opportunity to get the same SARS CoV-2.
